Exciting News!
Hops For Hope Funds Promising Medical Research Projects
Your generous contributions to Hops For Hope are directly funding promising research studys that are investigating how to control a specialized protein in nerve cells, called TDP-43, that is believed to play a part in both ALS and FTD.
Medical researcher Dr. Kevin Rhine is testing hundreds of drug compounds on aged nerve cells to see if any of the drugs can cause "mis-located" TDP-43 protein to re-locate back where it is supposed to be, which in turn might slow, stop, or reverse progression of nerve cell degeneration.

Neuroscientist Dr. Nikole Zuniga Quiroz is leading a research project to develop a new gene therapy that is designed to target the toxic TDP-43 aggregates that cause nerve cell degeneration in cases of ALS and FTD, without interfering with normal TDP-43 proteins.
